Adolescent Program Teacher

Arbor Montessori School is accepting applications from experienced candidates interested in working in its adolescent program. The school, located just outside of Atlanta, is celebrating its 52nd year. Arbor serves nearly 250 students through its two toddler classes, four primary classes, two lower elementary classes, two upper elementary classes, and an adolescent program. The adolescent program, founded twenty years ago, supports 40 students ages 12 to 14.

This position offers an opportunity to be part of a closely collaborative team of guides in an adolescent program that deliberately applies the Montessori philosophy and tenets in a suburban setting. Adults and students function as a community of learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. Students participate in every facet of a micro-economy, from production and exchange to marketing, advertising, customer service, and more. Driving this micro-economy are practical endeavors such as working in the garden, keeping bees, and preserving our watershed, which provides context and meaning for challenging academic work.

The position includes a competitive salary plus benefits. Teachers have the opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustees on a rotating basis.

Applicants should have a minimum of a BA or BS degree. They should either have participated in or be willing to participate in the AMI Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies or the AMI 12-18 Diploma Course. Experience teaching adolescent students is required; experience working in a Montessori setting is preferred. Toddler & Primary Coordinator

Arbor Montessori School is accepting applications from experienced candidates interested in serving as our Toddler and Primary Coordinator starting in August 2022.

The Toddler & Primary Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the toddler and primary programs are running smoothly. The Coordinator works closely with the Head of School, Level Coordinators, and the teaching staff to uphold Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) standards. Specifically, the Toddler & Primary Coordinator works closely with- and provides support to- the teachers, assistants, and families to ensure Arbor provides the best Montessori education possible to the children in these programs. The Coordinator also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Ideal candidates possess the following qualifications:

  • AMI Primary Diploma
  • BA or BS degree
  • Five years of experience as a lead guide in an AMI Primary classroom is required; Five consecutive years in one community preferred
  • Experience working in an AMI Assistants to Infancy/Toddler community is preferred
  • Three years of administrative experience, including time working with parents and the admissions office, is preferred
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, collaboration, and communication skills

Part-Time Enrichment Lead Teacher

Arbor is accepting applications for a Part-Time Enrichment Lead Teacher. This position is based at our LaVista Campus. Arbor follows the traditional school-year schedule, beginning in mid-August and ending the first week of June. Enrichment includes our pre- and after-school care programs and Holiday Camps.

This position primarily works with the after-school program. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 2:30pm to 6:15pm. This position also works with occasional Holiday Camps. The hours during Holiday Camp days may differ from the typical daily schedule.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with children ages 5-14 in a variety of after-school activities, including do-it-yourself crafts, indoor games, outdoor games, building toys, etc.
  • Supervising children to ensure safety in the Enrichment classrooms and outdoor spaces (e.g., playground, blacktop)
  • Assisting in the supervision of Enrichment assistant teachers during after-school and Holiday Camp programs
  • Maintaining clear and accurate records of children (e.g., sign-in & sign-out sheets, basic medical information)
  • Maintaining a clean and attractive environment, including organizing and monitoring supplies, regularly disinfecting surfaces, and restocking bathrooms as needed, etc.
  • Planning activities for Holiday Camp days

All Arbor teaching staff are fully vaccinated. Applicants must be willing to follow all COVID protocols as outlined by the school. Starting pay is competitive and varies based on experience.
