Music Teacher

Arbor Montessori is seeking a music teacher for elementary (grades 1-6) and middle school (grades 7-8) students. This part time position will be effective starting with the 2023-24 school year. Minimum requirements for this position are as follows:

  • College degree, preference for a degree in music or music education
  • Willingness to follow the Montessori music curriculum where age appropriate
  • Experience with elementary and/or middle school students in music instruction

Essential Duties:

  • Provide instruction, including but not limited to choral singing, movement and instrument notation, in an age-appropriate curriculum, using both Montessori and Georgia curriculum as a guide.
  • Works with level coordinators to develop appropriate curriculum.
  • Maintain contact and communication with classroom teachers, and work with them in supporting the development of each student.
  • Perform classroom management duties, enforce school rules governing the conduct of students.
  • Participates in staff development and professional growth activities.
  • Prepare written conference reports twice yearly.

Skill Requirements:

  • Classroom presentation of music skills, concepts, history, etc.
  • Classroom management and organization.
  • Human relations, mediation, conflict management and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintaining and developing record keeping materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based upon school goals, as well as the objectives, needs and abilities of students.
  • Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student age populations.
  • Ability and flexibility to interact effectively with students and other school staff.
  • Ability to evaluate student performance.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible.

Part-Time Enrichment Lead Teacher

Arbor is accepting applications for a part-time Enrichment lead teacher based at our Lavista Campus. Arbor follows the traditional school-year schedule, beginning in mid-August and ending the first week of June. Enrichment includes our pre- and after-school care programs and Conference Camps.

This position primarily works with the after-school program. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 2:30pm to 6:15pm. This position also works with occasional Conference Camps. The hours during Conference Camp days may differ from the typical daily schedule.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with children ages 5-14 in a variety of after-school activities, including do-it-yourself crafts, indoor games, outdoor games, building toys, etc.
  • Supervising children to ensure safety in the Enrichment classrooms and outdoor spaces (e.g., playground, blacktop).
  • Assisting in the supervision of Enrichment assistant teachers during after-school and Conference Camp programs.
  • Maintaining clear and accurate records of children (e.g., sign-in & sign-out sheets, basic medical information).
  • Maintaining a clean and attractive environment, including organizing and monitoring supplies, regularly disinfecting surfaces, and restocking bathrooms as needed, etc.
  • Planning activities for Conference Camp days.

All Arbor teaching staff are fully vaccinated. Applicants must be willing to follow all COVID protocols as outlined by the school.
